Pre Nuptial and Cohabitation (Living Together) Agreements
If you are thinking about getting married or living together, then it would be worthwhile considering arranging a Pre Nuptial agreement if you are getting married, or a Cohabitation Agreement if you are going to live together. They can avoid arguments later on if you do split up at a later date.
They can be particularly useful if one partner is contributing more than the other to a property purchase or if there are disagreements at a later stage over personal property or pets.
If you would like any further advice or information please contact Ashwin Topiwala on 0116 262 8596 or at email@example.com or Sarah Spence on 0116 262 8596 or at firstname.lastname@example.org
If you live with a partner then you may assume that if you split up the court would look at both party’s needs and requirements, however unfortunately for unmarried couples the court would look at who owns the property or who has made a financial contribution to the property.
A contribution could be made by paying money towards the purchase price, contributing towards any home improvements or carrying out DIY at the property. If you would like further advice regarding a property dispute please contact Sarah Spence on 0116 201 8566 or at email@example.com
